About Parque Fundidora
The Fundidora de Fierro y Acero de Monterrey opened in 1900 as one of the first integrated steelworks in Latin America and helped make Monterrey the industrial capital of Mexico. It closed in 1986, and the site became a public park that keeps the furnaces and chimneys as reminders of the city’s industrial past.
